
Mr Barr referred to the press launch of the ARF which had been held that morning. He spoke about a more joined up approach among the levy bodies to deal with the problems that are hitting the industry. He was pleased that we have representatives from Defra and the devolved administrations present at ARF meetings.
There had been a meeting regarding the Voluntary Initiative, with representatives of the CPS and NFU. Much of the work already funded by levy bodies relates to the VI, for example projects addressing pesticide use.
Prof Jellis had held a meeting with Dr Brian Harris to explore ways in which ARF could interact with BBSRC. ARF has a potentially useful role inn developing further the outcomes of BBSRC-funded research.
Mr Attenborough outlined the plans for a conference on nutrition, and possible content was discussed.
Mr Lindsay suggested that the first conference/workshop on waste management could be in the area of nitrogen management. He is working with IGER to develop a programme.
Dr Storey outlined the plans for the KT workshop to be held in September, which is planned to outline the needs of our stakeholders and develop appropriate campaigns. Mr Clayton of BPC is working with Mr Bob White of AtLast! Training Ltd to develop the programme.
Prof Jellis reported that HGCA is currently developing a website and an ARF website could probably be developed fairly cheaply using a similar template. It was agreed that this should be explored.
The RPG is considering how to engage with stakeholders. The plan is to identify priorities for 2010-2020.
Ms Charlton is developing a database of joint levy body projects.
