Replacing the Long Term Arrangements for Extension of Use

As you are no doubt aware, the Long Term Arrangements for Extension of Use (LTAEU) for edible crops will expire within the next 12 months.

The Horticultural Development Council (HDC) has worked closely with PSD, NFU, HGCA and other levy boards to ensure that the impact of this change is minimised.

The HDC consulted growers and industry specialists, and with the assistance of Miles Thomas of CSL and Cathy Knott, has drawn together a list of product and crop combinations which are used under the LTAEU, and which are important to retain to ensure continued production of these specialist crops.

We are pleased that PSD has now agreed to convert all of the LTAEUs required by industry to SOLA documents as an in-house exercise by March 2006.  The LTAEU will remain in place until the relevant new approvals have been issued.

The list of the key crops and product approvals is attached for your information.  In this excel file there are 4 worksheets which include all horticultural crops (HDC) cereal and oilseed crops (HGCA), lupins (PGRO) and other crops including borage, honesty etc.

LTAEU list of Crops, Formulations and Products    (335kb)

Please take this opportunity to review the lists of products and actives which are to be retained for each crop.  If you consider that there are any important products which are not included in the list, then please contact Vivian Powell at HDC or Dr Clive Edwards at HGCA.

The intention is to ensure that all products which may be important to your business are included, and that no additional costs are incurred.

Please note
In some circumstances where MRLs for the minor crop are already set at a level below that of the main crop group, it is not possible to request an automatic SOLA under this exercise.  It is possible therefore that the list will not include such products.  Please check the MRL status before requesting that new crop/product combinations are added to the list.  This information should be available from the PSD website using the following links (alternatively contact Grant Stark at PSD at address below). http://www.pesticides.gov.uk/uploadedfiles/Web_Assets/PSD/MRL_Spreadsheet.xls
